About Our Church
Bethlehem Lutheran Church was founded by Finnish immigrants in 1896. The congregation has been at its current site for nearly 50 years. Today we are one of the congregations of the Northern Illinois Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. About Interim Pastor Daniel Wynard Pastor Dan has been serving at Bethlehem since Sept 2011. Dan has spent the past 20 years serving as a missionary and pastor in various churches, countries and settings. From 1991 till 2003 Dan lived in Russia, working as a missionary to help establish an indigenous Christian student movement, a theological institute for training future pastors, and a Bible education and faith development program for lay leaders. Dan also served with the Evangelical Christian Church of Russia. From 2003-20011 Dan served as the Teaching Pastor at Alleluia Lutheran Church, Naperville Illinois. A graduate of Wheaton College in Wheaton Illinois (B.A. Biblical Studies, M.A. Missions), Dan also completed his Lutheran studies at the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago. Since 2007, Dan has been married to Lucy Wynard, who is also in the candidacy process to become a minister in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. |
